House PO-90
Total area: 200 m²
Architects: DIAV + Ruka
Studies developed as part of Estudio Diav.

Located in La Campana, Aconcagua Valley in central Chile, this dwelling is a new construction built as a second home.

It was proposed as a slim, tall volume. Interior spaces get projected out onto the landscape to meet the scenic views of the valley.  The connection between interior and exterior is achieved gradually.

We attempted to design a residential building which would bring comfort to its occupants by entirely passive means. For this, we optimised solar gains trough facades and orientation. We also experimented with the building envelope. While mostly lightweight, thermal mass was strategically located to load heat into the building at appropriate times, turning indoor environments more comfortable during both summer and winter.
